At the bus terminal...

I drew this up after a lunchtime conversation with my buddy J. last week, so I'm dedicating this to him. Being an excellent cartoonist and illustrator, J. has some fantastic stuff on his blogs and he was the one who got me started with all this blogging in the first place. You can check it out yourself and be impressed by his work -- his blogs are in my links section.

Aw, Mikey, you're such a peach! I love our lunch time chats...and you must know I'm completely envious of your skill with two colour drawings. You've got something achingly beautiful going on and should never have to question your art!

If I may analyze my tribute piece :) I like the way the girl is self-consciously holding her coat as if to cover any hint of bosom. It appears she's being led away from the Bus Terminal but she's watching me as I go there myself. Her gaze says "I almost made it. Good luck to you, stranger." And by calling it a "Terminal" instead of a station I think you are consciously stating an end to old things and beginning anew!

You rock!
Sincerely,
j.bone

Beautiful work!!!! There is obviously a lot of mood in these pieces. Deceptively simple.

This is a beautiful drawing. I love your style. Kind of Clowes meets Wally Wood, but totally original.
Good stuff!

Thanks, everyone! I really appreciate all the comments. J.'s detailed analysis takes the cake, though! It's always interesting to hear how different people interpret the "narrative" in drawings.
